DESCRIPTION

This building was custom built for Home Hardware in 2004. With this tenant and new build project, Fort Properties saw an opportunity to convert a parking lot into a vibrant and pedestrian-oriented street frontage and commercial hub to better serve the needs of residents in both Oak Bay and Victoria. Long before green building technology became the norm, this building employed passive haus heating and cooling strategies, maximizes natural daylight, and features bioswale landscaping to filter rainwater run-off. The broken sidewalk was redesigned to create a tree lined pedestrian walkway, further improving the streetscape of central Oak Bay Avenue.
